Thanksgiving Feast for the Trenton YMCA Community

This year’s annual Thanksgiving dinner took place in partnership with Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. This event has been a Kiwanis Club of Trenton tradition for over thirty years. A complete turkey dinner, donated by Wegmans, with deserts from Wegmans and Panera Bread, was served to 125 Trentonians who might not otherwise have had the opportunity to enjoy this most American of traditions. Rider and The College of New Jersey Circle K students, along with Science Mentors NJ students from Trenton High School, helped serve the meals. TCNJ’s Delta Epsilon Psi fraternity provided free health screenings, and activities were offered to younger guests. We are grateful to the YMCA and Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church volunteers for all of the help in the kitchen! It was an amazing collaborative event!

Thanksgiving at the YMCA

We weren’t needed at Luther Towers this year, as another service organization volunteered to provide this year’s Thanksgiving feast, so we moved to the YMCA of Trenton and had a great time serving their children and families.

2012 Flapjack Fundraiser

We had a great morning serving “all you can eat” pancakes and sausage to a full house. Proceeds from today’s event will go to support the Times-Kiwanis annual Camp Fund! If you missed it this year, put it on your calendar for next year. It’s a great way to support children in the community and enjoy a nice breakfast with friends and family.

October 17 Meeting

We had a wonderful meeting today where we had an inspiring presentation by Patrick Hall, a candidate for mayor of Trenton in 2013. Pat’s presentation was followed with awards; donations for the Soup Kitchen and our pancake breakfast; a visit from Corey Roach, president of Rider’s Circle K Club (which is doing a fabulous job of re-establishing the Club); and planning for Thanksgiving Dinner at Luther Towers. It was great to have a full house with Dennis, Alex, Girard, Mark, Corey, Patrick, Sam, Robert B., Robert P., Pat, Nancy, Bob, Paul, Tony, Meaghan, governor Joe, Stan, and Bill at today’s meeting!
