When this year’s Times-Kiwanis Camp Fund total reached $11,370, the Rose and Louis H. Linowitz Charitable Foundation pledged to match the next $5,000 raised by the community, challenging people to be generous in donating to this year’s campaign.

The Times’ readers responded, and an additional $5,000 has been raised to help send area youngsters with financial and special needs to summer camp. This brings the total raised to $21,370 with the foundation’s match.

“Many thanks to the Rose and Louis H. Linowitz Charitable Foundation for its ongoing support of the Camp Fund and $45,000 in donations over the past nine years,” said Sheila Gallagher-Montone, publisher and advertising director of The Times. “Thanks also to all those whose contributions have helped this year’s campaign move even closer to its goal of raising $25,000 to help send kids to camp.”
Alex Treece, president of the Kiwanis Club of Trenton and Times-Kiwanis Camp Fund chairman, added his thanks, “We are grateful to all those who have supported this worthy cause, and we are especially thankful to the Rose and Louis H. Linowitz Charitable Foundation for its continued generous support.”

“Congratulations on another successful campaign,” said Marc Linowitz, president and treasurer of the Rose and Louis H. Linowitz Charitable Foundation. “We are happy to be a part of the Times-Kiwanis Camp Fund, which gives so many deserving children the opportunity to experience summer camp.”

Recent donations include a gift of $250 from Patricia Nardone of Ewing with a note, “For Anthony.”

Teresa and Darryl Farmer of Titusville sent $200.

Martin Timins of West Windsor sent $30 and Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Cawley of Princeton, $25.
Sending $20 each were Charles Avatar of Bordentown and an anonymous donor from Trenton.
With the help of the Times-Kiwanis Camp Fund, now in its 58th year, participating youngsters referred through public and private agencies have been able to attend camps including those run by the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, YMCA Camp Mason, Family Guidance Center, HomeFront, The Arc Mercer, the Westside Community Center and Trenton YMCA.
