The first meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Trenton was held at 12:30 pm, Wednesday, May 15, 1918 at Hilldebrecht’s Restaurant with 28 charter members. Since the club’s founding, over 1,200 members have impacted the lives and betterment of the greater Trenton area. Over the years in excess of two million dollars has been raised and expended on projects which have touched the lives of untold thousands of children, the elderly, the handicapped, the poor and citizens whose lives have been enlightened and entertained through Trenton Kiwanis projects.
In addition to our semimonthly meetings the club also supports several, high-profile events, including the annual Trenton Police Officer of the Year Award, the Easter Egg Hunt at Cadawalder Park, and regular clean-ups of the Trenton Battle Monument. The Trenton Kiwanis is also proud to sponsor Rider University’s Cirlce K Club at its campus in Lawrenceville.
The Club is also proud to partner with the Times of Trenton each year in support of the Times – Kiwanis Camp Fund. The Camp Fund was founded in 1955 by members of the Kiwanis Club of Trenton in partnership with The Times. Since then, more than $1 million has been raised and thousands of financially disadvantaged youth and children with special needs have been able to experience the joys of nature and growth opportunities provided at summer camp.
